Organic Pregnancy Bible - Natural Pregnancy
How many times have you watched a Hollywood movie depicting the main character in the delivery room screaming at her husband while trying to push the baby out in intense agony?
I find these scenes in movies appalling and disturbing. Childbirth isn't suppose to be like that
Childbirth is a beautiful, moving and life changing event.
Despite spending far more money per capita on maternity and newborn care than any other country in the world, the United States continues to have a high rate of infant and maternal mortality.
The C-section is a major abdominal surgery that is done on the mother to give birth to the baby.
The World Health Organization recommends that only 15% of the population should be born via c-section and only if it is an medical emergy.
However, cesarean section rates have increased beyond the recommended level of 15%, almost doubling in the last decade. This trend has been showing up in both high-income areas such as North America, UK, Australia, and parts of Europe and in low income countries such as Brazil, China and India, especially for births in private hospitals.
It is THE MOST COMMON SURGERY in the United States.
Here is a recent news story on the dangers of having a c section:
A recent study showed that between 1990 and 2005, the birth weight of full-term babies in the U.S. declined nearly two ounces to an average of 7 pounds, 7.54 ounces. Babies were also found to have been born 2.5 days earlier on average in 2005 than in 1990. A similar trend was also found in Canada.
Emily Oken, assistant professor of population medicine at Harvard Medical School, notes that babies born too small have a greater risk of high blood pressure and diabetes in the long run.
It's time to take control of your own pregnancy and your own childbirth and FIND OUT what your other options are. This is YOUR pregnancy not theirs.
